Ananya Vinay

2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion

One of the youngest Scripps National champion (2017) and California State Spelling bee champion for four years (2014-2018), Ananya is the co-founder of SpellGenius. With her deep understanding of language rules and roots, she imparts to the speller a strong foundation of etymology and vocabulary that stays beyond the spelling bee! She is a varsity debater and a science enthusiast. She has participated in the National Science Bowl twice, and her team qualified for the top 16 at the national competition. Her science project earned Broadcom Masters Top 300 for two years in a row. She mentors the middle school science bowl team and the school spelling bee team. She loves to write, read,and watch movies. She also loves to teach science and math to younger kids as well as spelling. Her students include Navneeth Murali,Anisha Rao,Nicholas D’sa,Vayun Murali and many in the current active participants.

Anisha Rao

Tenth Place in Scripps National Spelling Bee (2017) and California State Spelling Bee Champion (2018)

Anisha placed 10th and 17th in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2018 and 2019 and was the California State Spelling Bee champion in 2019. She loves sharing her knowledge and helping people learn, and hopes that the skills that students learn in spelling, from a greater command of the English language to an understanding of values like hard work and persistence, will prove beneficial to them, both in their spelling bee journey and later on in life. As a spelling coach, she believes vocabulary is key to mastering spelling in addition to learning language patterns, roots, and rules even at a beginner level. Anisha's academic interests range from computer programming (USACO Gold contestant) and biology to her love of languages, as she is currently learning Spanish. She also plays tennis for her school team, participates in various school clubs and loves working with others.

Navneeth Murali

Uncrowned Spelling Bee Champion of 2019 and NSF Spelling and Vocabulary Champion

Navneeth has been fascinated by words ever since he could remember. Spelling has taught Navneeth many invaluable life lessons, including the importance of hard work, how to stay calm under pressure, and resilience. Navneeth ran a vocabulary club at his school to share his knowledge and love of words with his schoolmates. He is the three-time SpellGenius Online National Spelling Bee Champion,two-time Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship Finalist ,2019 South Asian Spelling Bee - Champion, 2019 North South Foundation Senior Spelling Bee - Champion, 2019 North America Spelling Champions Challenge - Champion, 2018 North South Foundation Intermediate Vocabulary Bee - Champion. Navneeth is excited to share his experience in vocabulary by pioneering as a VocabGenius coach and instilling in the younger generation a lifelong love of words.

Rishik

2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion

Rishik, co-champion of 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee, has been a voracious reader from a very young age. He started participating in spelling bees and vocabulary bees through North South Foundation since first grade. He participated and climbed the spelling ladder through various Spelling Bees in his 7 years spelling journey, finally reaching the pinnacle in 2019. Since winning the championship and retiring from active participation in the bees, he has been coaching and mentoring spellers. He enjoys spending time with his brother and reading a variety of books in his free time. His other interests are biology, chemistry, and health sciences. He is excited to share his knowledge with the next generation of spellers and help them achieve their dreams.

Tejas Muthusamy

Four time finalist at the Scripps National speelling Bee

Tejas has ranked in the top 10 in the National Spelling Bee for four years in a row. He is an experienced coach with a deep understanding of language rules and roots, and is an excellent mentor of younger spellers. He is the editor-in-chief of his school's newspaper and one of the co-presidents of his school's Young Democrats club. He is a research intern in the linguistics department of the University of Richmond and created an initiative in Richmond to teach elementary and middle school students about various languages and cultures. He recently participated in a language immersion in Turkey from the Dept of State and was selected as a Bank of America Student leader.
